So I am intentionally hoarding dirty dishes so that I can do a larger load later on.  This is a problem I seriously did not imagine having!

Instead of doing dishes, I walked around my neighbourhood tonight in search of a bookstore to buy some fiction.  Need me some fiction, see?

I suppose I could specify a bit: I was in search of fantasyPop fantasy.  Basically any book featuring a bunch of people in a medieval world going on some sort of quest that involves swords, elves, and possibly giant badgers living in mountain fortresses.  Is the term for that "Swords and Sorcery?"  I have been hearing so much about the Game of Thrones series and know nothing about it, so I was curious to give that a try.

My search proved fruitless in that regard, although I did stumble upon The Tale of Genji.  I think I will need a hefty dose of pop fiction to read concurrently with this in order to keep my focus, but so far it is very beautiful!  The edition I have is the translation by Seidensticker, and it's very readable.  The characters consistently quote at least one poem every time they speak and I love it, but so far all the action that has taken place has only involved messengers being sent back and forth between people.  Also everyone is sad all the time.  I'm holding out for a big showdown with samurais (perhaps a samurai shodown?) as the climax of the story.  I believe I will most likely be disappointed.
